Why Go Herbal?

In this technology driven era, there have been many medicinal and cosmetic breakthroughs, giving us not only remedies for illnesses, but for health and beauty needs. Chemists continue to research and develop synthetic medicines and drugs that cure or prevent many diseases, as well as improving the quality of one's health.

With the growing effort towards medical advancement, there are also the questions of just how healthy these chemical remedies are to humans. With the increasing number of health issues, many are looking not at synthetic chemicals, but towards herbal medicines.

However, with a growing effort toward medical advancement, there is also the ongoing threat to our health.  It leaves a question in everyone’s mind whether manufactured medicines are safe enough for human health.

Basics of Herbal Medicines

Some recent studies advocate herbal, or natural medicines and remedies instead of synthetic drugs.

Studies of many herbs reveal that many herbs have components that have medicinal purposes. Some edible plants and herbs can also be used as medicinal. Many common home remedies make use of plants and herbs that may contain curative effects.

Various parts of a plant may be used in producing herbal medicines, including the leaves, stems, seeds, fruit, bark, and roots.

Dietary Supplements vs. Synthetic Drugs

Herbal remedies are called dietary supplements, whereas manufactured medicines are called drugs.

The FDA has created guidelines for the manufacture of chemicals in the production of medicines. These medicines are created specifically for the treatment of diseases and ailments. An ongoing part of drug research is to find cures for rare diseases.

Herbal medicines, on the other hand, are considered dietary supplements, since they do not have approved theraputic claims. They may contain several elements, such as vitamines, herbs, and amino acids, but they have not been recognized as a substitute for any medicine or food. They can be taken as a supplement to your normal diet.

Natural Herbal Healing

Growth of Herbal Remedies

As the efforts to produce effective medicines grow, many recognize the hazards of chemically produced medicines, especially in large doses. As the manufacture of most medicines becomes more complex, more and more people are turning to herbal remedies as a more effective and natural treatment of ailments.

Herbal supplements have already been given approval by the FDA, as far as safety and quality. Some chemists are isolating the active ingredients in the herbs and plants to produce curative or lifesaving medicines. Herbal supplements have mainly natural composition, from a mixture of herbs or plants. They are produced into a gel or powder to be packaged as tablets or capsules.

Rediscovery of Herbal Remedies

Even manufactured medicines today use components from herbs and medicinal plants, producint semi-synthetic drugs.

Herbal medicines have been proven to have an important role in medicine. Before the introduction of manufactured medicines, many people have enjoyed the natural benefits of most spices and herbs. Because herbal supplements use natural components, they are often cheaper than most synthetic medicines, making herbal supplements a practical option.

Versatility of Herbs

Manufactured medicines are usually produced to treat one type of illness or condition. Herbal remedies, on the other hand can be more versatile, treating a number of conditions.
